IPA (2022 – 2023) Multi-Tabling Violations
Dear IPA Players,
The IPA values integrity and fair competition, and we expect participants in every IPA tournament to play with complete honesty. It has been brought to our attention that some players have assumed the identity of other players during IPA matches by multi-tabling. Multi-tabling is not allowed in this tournament, as set out in rule 3.16 of the Format & Rules. Multi-tabling is inherently unfair to other teams. The IPA is designed as a team competition: teams field five players on each match day, and each player contributes to the team’s overall success. Multi-tabling allows a team’s stronger players to accumulate more results for their team and unfairly tilts the playing field in that team’s favor. The IPA is a team competition, not an individual one.
Given the online nature of the tournament, we cannot catch every instance of multi-tabling. Fortunately, we have kept logs of all matches this season, and we were able to track each player’s in-game ID, which is unique to their browser, across all logs. Unfortunately, we found a handful of instances, most of them involving a few teams and individuals.
Below is a list of all players who violated the multi-tabling rule and all players who allowed another individual to take their seat.

As a result, the following penalties apply to those found in violation:
- Players will be instantly suspended for the remaining of the tournament
- Players may be permanently banned from all IPA tournaments, with an option for an appeal
- All points from these players will be removed and will automatically place sixth in their tables with 0 points. Players in the same tables will automatically move up in positions with penalties kept.
- If a team can no longer provide enough players to compete in the remainder of the tournament, the team will be removed from play
- A red card(s) will be given to the team dependent on the number of offenses. 2 offenses: team may field only four players, 3-4 offenses: team may field only three players, 5+ offenses: team may field only two players going forwards.
Going forward, we will begin randomly verifying player identities early in and midway through games using the platform’s video chat features.
