Overview
The IPA 2021–2022 tournament resumed with Match 4 on February 4 and 5.
Cornell and Georgia Tech continue to dominate their groups, while McGill delivers a surprise performance. The standings are solidifying, a few teams have claimed their playoff spots, and Match 5 will determine the rest of the playoff field.
UNSW continues to lead Group A, and UNSW and Pomona are the favorites for the two playoff seats. Auckland and USC are fighting for the wildcard spot, with Victoria and Sydney still in contention. There were no changes in placement.
Group B also sees no changes in placement. Columbia Law, Manchester and Michigan are close, with only 1.75 points separating first from third, and William & Mary is not far behind.
In Group C, McGill delivers a surprise performance, dominating most of its tables and moving from fourth to first. McGill and Claremont McKenna have a safety margin going into the final match of the regular season, while Yale, Washington University and Illinois are all in contention for the wildcard spot.
In Group D, Georgia Tech dominates once again. Georgia Tech and Oxford are clear favorites for the two playoff spots, while Princeton maintains a healthy gap over fourth-place Indiana.
Group E sees close results among the top three teams. Waterloo has fallen behind the group leaders but is still well within contention for a playoff or wildcard spot. Vanderbilt, UPenn and Tufts all need strong performances in their final match.
In Group F, Cornell shows it is one of the strongest teams in the league. Cornell has a stress-free final match, as its playoff spot is nearly secured. The second playoff spot and the wildcard spot are up for grabs among the next four teams: Miami, Imperial, Harvey Mudd and Brown.
