IPA (2021 – 2022) Match 2 Recap
Overview
The IPA 2021–2022 tournament resumed with Match 2. Cambridge opted to forfeit and will be sent directly to relegation with 0 points. Group E will now play with six teams, with 1–6 points awarded per table. Match 1 points have also been adjusted.
UC Davis, York and Cornell showed strong performances this match. UC Davis jumped from last to second place in Group A, York went from last to a quarter point shy of third in Group E, and Cornell improved from the wildcard spot to first.
UNSW leads Group A. The spread from first to fifth is close at just 5.25 points, and the top two teams still have many hands to play before their playoff spots are guaranteed.
Group B is a fight between William & Mary and Columbia Law School, with both teams emerging as potential playoff contenders. Michigan and Manchester are not far behind, and the wildcard spot is still very much up for grabs.
In Group C, Illinois lost major ground from first place, while Washington University dominates with a healthy lead over the field.
Group D saw minimal changes. Princeton and Oxford swapped second and third place, while Georgia Tech continues to lead and widens its gap over second.
Group E loses Cambridge and shows results consistent with Match 1. The spread between the top three teams is only three points.
In Group F, reigning IPA champion Brown is regaining lost ground, improving from fifth to third. Brown is looking for its third consecutive IPA Finals appearance.
