IPA (2024-2025) Match 3 Recap
Overview
The 2024-2025 season resumed on February 15th with the completion of Match 3.
Wisconsin, Waterloo, Vanderbilt, Cambridge, Oxford, and Michigan lead their respective groups. UNC, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Yale, and Harvard post strong weeks in their pursuit of playoff contention.
Group A continues to be led by Wisconsin despite their relatively poor week, as Cornell and McGill close the gap. The top 3 teams maintain a moderate cushion over Bocconi, which dropped from 2nd to 4th this week, and USC. Tufts brings up the rear with a penalized week.
Average: 27.0 points, Standard deviation: 11.63 points, Penalties: 8 points.
Waterloo maintains its position at the top of Group B, with Yale and Virginia in hot pursuit. Yale moves into 2nd from 4th and Chicago jumps up two places to 4th despite a penalty, while Virginia falls into the wildcard sport and Emory slips into last from 3rd.

Group C is characterized by the tight grouping of its top 4 teams. Vanderbilt and Harvard move up one place into 1st and 3rd, respectively, with Georgia Tech and Carnegie Mellon each dropping a place into 2nd and 4th. Claremont McKenna partially closes its large gap, while Imperial remains far behind.
Average: 26.5 points, Standard deviation: 9.81 points, Penalties: 2 points.
Group D features two of the IPA’s premier teams — Cambridge and Johns Hopkins — tied at the top of the group with 114 total points. No movement in the standings, with Northwestern posting a strong week that increases its playoff cushion over Berkeley. The bottom three teams of Berkeley, Occidental, and Harvey Mudd were heavily penalized this week.
Average: 24.17 points, Standard deviation: 16.71 points, Penalties: 34 points.
Oxford remains at the top of Group E, while a big week from Wake Forest shoots it into 2nd and the biggest score of the week — 55 points — has North Carolina in the wildcard. Princeton drops from 2nd to 4th but remains in playoff contention, and Booth and Washington trail behind.

Group F is unchanged in its standings. Michigan and Brown continue to pull away from the rest of the group as playoff contenders, while MIT comes within 1 point of Duke for the wildcard spot. Warwick, NYU, and Penn remain mostly out of playoff contention.
